Prospective Marriage (300)
For engaged partners of Australians. The 300 lets you come to Australia to marry, and the onshore Partner pathway can then lead to permanent residence.
Requirements
What the 300 asks of you.
The 300 is the start of a three-visa sequence. We plan the onshore 820/801 from day one.
Adults who have met and can marry
You must both be at least 18, have physically met as a couple, know each other personally, not be closely related, and each be free to marry the other.
A genuine plan to marry and settle
You must genuinely intend to marry within the visa's validity and to live together as spouses afterwards. Your wedding plans form part of the evidence.
An approved Australian sponsor
Your intended spouse must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, with sponsorship approved under the same limits that govern the partner visas.
Outside Australia when you lodge
The application must be lodged while you are offshore. Once granted, the visa runs for 9 to 15 months; marry within that window, and the onshore 820/801 continues the pathway to permanent residence.
