Policy update The National Innovation visa replaced the Global Talent visa (closed to new applications 6 December 2024) and the closed business investor program. The subclass number 858 is reused, but the criteria are new.

A nominator with national standing

A nominator with a national reputation in your field: an Australian citizen, permanent resident, eligible New Zealand citizen, or an Australian organisation. In security-related cases, government endorsement can take its place.

Expression of Interest first

You submit an Expression of Interest and can apply only if invited. Once invited, you have 60 days to lodge. Priority bands determine how quickly invitations are issued.
